Ataman: “Condolences to the Baldock family – If we put 94 points unprepared, I worry about the other teams”

Panathinaikos’ AKTOR welcomed Bayern to the ‘new’ OAKA with a very easy 94-79 win, producing their best performance of the season so far for the 2X2 in Euroleague.

After the match, Ergin Ataman he emphasized that his team scored 94 points even unprepared, therefore… worried about her opponents when she finds a rhythm. At the same time, he sent his condolences to the family of the deceased George Baldock.

“I want to start with my condolences to the Baldock family. My condolences to the bereaved Panathinaikos family and to all of European sport. He was a young kid and it’s a great loss. For the game, I want to say that we started perfectly with excellent defense and controlled the game, taking an advantage. Especially in the first half we moved the ball well and found many points by surprise. For the first time I can say that I am very pleased with our performance in the first half.

In the third quarter we lost our rhythm and stopped playing against the zone defense. We didn’t move the ball well. Of course it is the beginning of the season and we are not yet ready for all the situations in defense. In the last period we put Lorenzo and Grant on the field and they found solutions in defense and then we controlled the match again. Lessor was the MVP today, but Huacho put up a lot of fight and grabbed a lot of rebounds. We have a good roster and it’s hard to split the time, but what counts is the wins. We got the win against a team with a very good roster in the Euroleague, like Bayern.”

As for Panathinaikos not being ready yet: “We are not ready yet and we scored 94 points. I am worried about the other teams that they will stop us when we are ready. Day by day we will be more ready. If on the day we are not ready we put 94 points, then what will happen when we are”.
