Munafos praised Rastavacs: “Clean and serious coach – A very good choice for OFI”

by

THE Milan Rastavac is expected to become the new coach of OFI, since Traianos Dellas left the group due to a serious family problem.

A former player of his, Juan Munafo talk to SPORTS FM 104.2 and deified the Serbian technician.

What he said in detail:

On the arrival of Milan Rastavacs to OFI: “I learned what has happened to Mr. Della and I hope that everything goes well with his family. I have learned that this is an awesome person, we may not have worked together but we are in the same space and we all know each other. Rastavacs comes to a team that has started very well and I think it is a very good choice because he is a foreign coach who has a lot of ties to Greece.

He knows the Greek league very well, he has achieved quite good results and I, who have worked with him, believe that he is clean, serious. OFI is a very good team for me, it has quality footballers and needs a coach who will continue the work that Mr. Dellas has done. For me, I believe that he will help OFI a lot, this is a person who will have communication at a very high level with both Greek and foreign footballers. He knows Greek football and OFI very well.

This year the fifth place is being claimed and I believe that many teams are claiming it and one of them is OFI. It has great quality, good players and a good group. They definitely want guidance from the management and the coach, OFI has a world that we all know in Greece and has the pressure that other teams don’t have. Certainly Rastavac is a coach who likes to work under pressure and this element will help him.”

About Milan Rastavac’s profile: “We see that OFI is also slowly bringing players out of the academy. As a coach he wants to achieve goals with his team, if he sees that young children can help achieve the goal then he will give them time, he has no problem doing it as he did at Asteras Tripoli. Milan will do what he thinks is good for the team. He gives great importance to the defensive part because he knows that in the Greek league this is the key. He likes quality footballers, of which OFI has several, and to give them freedom in the game. If the results help him, I believe that OFI will be a team that we will really like to see.”

For Riera, Christopoulos with whom they were teammates at Asteras Tripoli: “Apart from Riera and Christopoulos who were teammates, I have several friends in OFI and I know how it works. When a team like OFI starts well then it helps them psychologically. Certainly when there is a loss to OFI, it is more hard because it has a fanatical crowd and that is why the stadium is so nice. All the kids are happy at OFI, we all know that OFI is one of the best teams in Greece. What he lacks are results, but I believe he can achieve it this year.”

About OFI and how there was no possibility of him wearing his shirt: “I’ve always liked OFI and its stadium, it’s very similar to Argentina’s and the atmosphere is fantastic. I will always say the best things about Asteras Tripolis because I spent 10 fantastic years. But OFI always liked us as an opponent and had our respect. And what I was saying today is that now that I live in Crete I will take my son to the stadium because it is one of the best stadiums in Greece”.

Regarding the decision to continue in Chania: “After many years at Asteras where I spent good and difficult times, a fantastic circle has closed for me. We wanted to do something different with my family, I was looking for a different motivation because you know after 10 years in a team I wanted to make a change, before the end. My communication with Asteras has always been fantastic and since I am 36 years old, I wanted to have a different goal and give more. I had proposals, but there was a very good communication with Chania, it’s a place I know, my family and I spent many good times and we decided to come.”

For this year’s start of Chania: “It is still too early. At the beginning with Kalamata, if we had won, the continuation would have been easier. But since the goal is to claim promotion, these results threw us a little but they are details that decided the three games. But with my experience I see that we have a good team, we can beat any team at home and away. We definitely want results to gain confidence. We’ve been working very well all week, it’s only a matter of time before the first win comes and then everything will depend on us.”
