His own message about the sudden and untimely death of george baldock, sent by the president of the EPO, Makis Gagatsis.

In the introductory note on the Match Program for tonight’s match Our national team against Ireland for the Nations League, Mr. Gagatsis emphasized, among other things, that the tribute of our internationals to Baldock was a unique unity messagemeanwhile, he said that today’s match of the “blue and white” is a moment of farewell for an important member of the National Team family.

The message of Makis Gagatsis in detail:

“Friends and friends,

Tonight’s match against Ireland has a special meaning for all of us, as it is a moment of farewell for an important member of the National Team family.

George Baldock, who honored the coat of arms with pride, is no longer with us. He passed away a few hours before Greece’s historic victory over England, in the country of his birth. It is difficult for any of us to accept this sudden loss. Much more probably for his teammates, with whom he shared the same dressing room, the same effort and together with the joys and disappointments.

Last Thursday, the tribute to George’s memory by his teammates and friends was not just an unrepeatable victory, but a unique message of unity and dignity and an indelible memory, full of emotional outbursts. Our internationals, with a broken heart and tears in their eyes, found the strength to fight and honor George magnificently.

On behalf of the EPO, I would like to once again express my condolences to George’s family and loved ones. His contribution to the National Team will never be forgotten. His absence will be felt, but his spirit and example will accompany us in every match.

And in every rejection to toxicity.

In all the respect and solidarity that football stands for as values.

In every shot in the direction of unity.”
