Speaking about his decision to move to the US and MLS despite having lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, the Marco Royce.
The 35-year-old midfielder, who retired last summer after a whole football life spent in Dortmund to join the LA Galaxyspoke about his decision to say “goodbye” to Westphalia, while he also spoke about his decision to respond negatively to teams from of Saudi Arabia.
“I thought it would be harder to say goodbye to Dortmund, but I expected the end to come. I knew it was time to say goodbye. In Germany they say that footballers after 35 are old, while here you are either good or not. Age doesn’t matter”he initially reported, while then he talked about the proposals he had in his hands from groups in Saudi Arabia.
“Ultimately, I decided to prioritize my life and the opportunity to build a business here, make new contacts and broaden my horizons. I could make ten times that in Saudi Arabia, but I’ve never been a money-first person. I just wanted to be happy with my family”.
