Upheaval and qualification for AEK

Qualification with an upset for AEK. The Union defeated Latvia’s Riga 3-1 in the second round of the Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup ’64 and, combined with the same-score victory in the first leg in Athens last week, sealed the “ticket” is now waiting for Benfica.

Riga surprised AEK in the first set by making it 1-0, but the continuation belonged exclusively to the “yellow and black”.

With Edwards leading the way with 19 points, the Union pulled off the upset and reached victory. Although the qualification was secured as soon as the 1-2 set was played, Giangrossi Pasqualino kept his starting six in the taraflex for the final 3-1 set.
