The document was shared with the club on Wednesday morning (16/10) with 12 days delay and this after the club’s request for the use of the field.
As the Akrites claim, “this shows that for about two weeks we have not been informed by the competent services of the Municipality, so that we can take our measures to better plan our obligations. And no one knows if we had not submitted our request, if they would have ever informed us»!
A complaint is also made for “the fact that since October 4th, when the stadium was deemed unsuitable and until yesterday, hundreds of minor athletes have been training normally and continuing their sports activities in the same stadium, putting their physical integrity at risk. In fact, during the period when the stadium was deemed unfit for use, it was given to another team from our city for a friendly match! Two meters and two weights! Why?».
Finally, the association concludes by noting that it is “administrative incompetence of the municipal authority” and emphasizes that there is no alternative solution in terms of headquarters!
The announcement of Athlos Orestiada:
The administration of TAA Athlos she laments that a few 24 hours before the scheduled (19/10, 17.45) knockout match of the qualifying phase of the League Cup “N. Samaras” with Flisvos Palaio Faliros, the Municipality of Orestiada “evicts” our team, judging the new closed of our city “N. Samaras” unsuitable for sports activities.
Specifically, with a letter dated October 4, 2024, sent by the Chief Technical Services Directorate, Mr. Kalentzidis Vlasakis, to Auto. Department of Communal Protection of Education and Sports of the Municipality of Orestiada, which also notified the Mayor of Orestiada, Mr. Papadopoulos Adamantios, the Deputy Mayor of the Department of Sports, Mr. Dimoutsis Pantelis, and the Deputy Mayor of TYDO, Mr. Papalampidis Zisi, informed them that, “in response to our letter with number Prot. 22629/2/10/2024 and bearing in mind the latest water inflow phenomena at the “Nikos Samaras” Indoor Gym, the fact that we are going through winter with unpredictable weather conditions and until the appropriate repairs are made, the Technical Service deems the building unsuitable for usegiven that there is a risk of falling, electric shock, etc.”
This document, communicated to our club 12 days lateyesterday Wednesday October 16 at 09:20 a.m.. and this after our request (15/10) to use the field for the match. Which shows, that for about 2 weeks, we had not been informed by the competent services of the Municipality, so that we could also take our measures for the best planning of our obligations. And no one knows, if we had not submitted our request, if they would have informed us at all!
We also denounce the fact that since October 4th, when the stadium was deemed unsuitable and until yesterday, hundreds of minor athletes trained normally and continued their sports activities on the same field, putting their physical integrity at risk. The safety and welfare of our athletes is a priority for our club and it is our concern to ensure that our young athletes train in a safe and appropriate environment. We will not allow anyone to play with the lives and health of our children.

Unfortunately, once again we become witnesses of the administrative incompetence of the Municipal Authorityas the prestige and credibility of volleyball in our Orestiada and wider Prefecture, is irreparably damaged for the 2nd time in half a month! The first time at the “International Tournament N. Orestiada”, where after the cancellation of June, 4 months after the Municipality was “surprised” at the sight of the flooded “N. Saddler”which led to the cancellation of the event and the second time, yesterday, when 12 days later, the administration of the Athlos is informed that its headquarters has been deemed unsuitable!
A result of this delay is that on the eve of the 1st official game of the year and indeed for an event, the League Cup, which is dedicated to the memory of Nikos Samaras, Athlos does not have a stadium to host the team of Flisvos Palaio Faliros, but neither do they have any alternatives. The indoor stadium of Vyssa does not have a permit, while the Old Indoor Stadium of Orestiada, due to its low ceiling, lacks the conditions required by the organizing authority of ESAP to hold competitions. And all this when the referees for Saturday’s match have already been appointed and everything suggests that we are not far from a new… fiasco. Let us underline that the document in question, which is attached at the end of the announcement, just today, Thursday 17/10, was posted on the wall in “N. Saddler”. In fact, employees of the stadium were verbally told to inform anyone entering the stadium that they are entering “exclusively at their own risk”!
Who is responsible for this mess? Why hasn’t he resigned yet? Is there someone in charge who, with respect and responsibility, can put a “brake” on the new mess that our city is experiencing? To give a “happy ending” to the “serial” of our team’s suffering. Let the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, whoever is responsible, finally tell us if they want the Orestiada Sports in the professional category of the Volley League! The only team that represents Thrace in the top league of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The Orestiada team and the citizens of the Municipality will not pay the “ping pong” of blame that continues so defiantly!
