The president of the Greek Jiu Jitsu Federation, Maria Haritopoulou, shortly before the start of the World Championships that will be held from October 23 to November 4, sent a message to both Greek athletes and those who will rush to our country to compete:

“We are proud that the World Federation trusted us – I am sure that the Greek flag will be raised many times”

The countdown is now on for the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships for all age categories, in the event that will be hosted at Dio Aoraki in Heraklion, Crete (23/10-4/11).

An event with the participation of approximately 3,500 athletes from 67 countries of the world, with the Greek federation declaring itself ready for this great organizational “challenge” as for the first time all the World championships of the sport will be held simultaneously, in one event.

The President of the Greek Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Maria Haritopoulou, said:

“Greece has the pleasure of hosting the Jiu Jitsu World Championships of all age categories.

This is the biggest undertaking ever in the history of the sport, as for the first time all the championships will be held in one country.

We are proud, that once again, we managed to be trusted as a federation and as a country and for the fact that 7000 athletes, attendants, coaches will come to Heraklion, Crete. They will have the opportunity to compete in the best conditions and of course to get to know the beauties of Greece.

I would like to wish everyone a good stay and achieve their goals.

The Greek delegation will be the largest that has taken part. I know very well the sacrifices, the efforts they have made to be ready to compete in the World Championship. I wish with all my heart that they will raise the Greek flag high and give us many medals. It is a special feeling to compete in your “home” and to be able to stand out in front of your own people. I am sure that the Greek delegation will give its best and I hope we will raise the Greek flag many times!
