In the wake of the end of the mandatory use of masks in open spaces, the government of São Paulo also authorized clubs to have 100% of the public capacity in São Paulo stadiums.
According to Governor João Doria (PSDB), the measure will take effect from this Wednesday (9). São Paulo, for example, informed that it will make the maximum capacity of the Morumbi stadium available to fans for the classic against Palmeiras, this Thursday (10), at 20:30, for the Paulista Championship.
It will be the first game of this edition of the State that can count on crowded stands.
The expansion of the public takes place almost two months after the FPF (Federação Paulista de Futebol) accepted a suggestion by the state government to restrict the presence of fans to 70% of the capacity of sports venues. Fans were even banned in arenas at the beginning of the pandemic, in 2020.
“This also applies to all sports practiced outdoors in the state of São Paulo. As of today, 100% occupancy, and there is no longer the need to wear masks, there is only the recommendation”, said the governor, this Wednesday.
Sought by the report, the FPF said in a note that it will follow the government’s guidance, but that “it maintains the recommendation of wearing a mask in all open environments”.
The change is driven by two indicators: the drop in infection cases and deaths and data on the progress of the immunization campaign.
Since the beginning of the week, the toucan’s advisors have been working on making videos about the end of the need to wear a mask.
Corinthians also informed its fans about the release of a new load of tickets for the game against Ponte Preta, on Saturday (12), at Neo Química Arena.
The clubs emphasize, however, that it is necessary to present proof of the complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19 to gain access to the stadiums.
Children under five years old must present a negative PCR test, performed up to 48 hours before the game, in order to access the arenas. Children ages 5 to 11 who have not yet had access to their first dose of vaccines will also need to submit a test.
According to the government’s Vacinometer, until Wednesday afternoon, 89.33% of the entire population over five years of age had a complete vaccination schedule.
The municipality of São Paulo reported in its latest Covid-19 daily bulletin, published this Tuesday (8), that 80.21% of the population between 5 and 11 years old received the first dose of the vaccine. In addition, 24.7% of children were immunized with the second dose. The total of this public is 1,083,159 children from 5 to 11 years old, according to the city hall.
