From the second round of singles Sgouropoulos, Stamatouros begin their efforts at WTT Feeder Prishtina

Immediately after the World Table Tennis Youth Contender, where five of our junior athletes took part, Kosovo is organizing the WTT Feeder Prishtina 2024 for the senior category, also at Sport Hall 1 Tetori. The tournament of the world federation starts on Wednesday, ends on Friday and Giannis Sgouropoulos and Giorgos Stamatouros will take part in singles and doubles.

There are forty-one entries for the men, on Tuesday the draws took place and on a board of “64” our champions begin their effort in the singles from the second round.

In the meantime, we had a score improvement and new entries in the international evaluation tables on Tuesday for the Greek colors after the successful participation in the Youth Contender of Kosovo. In the Under 19 category, Alexandros Madesis rose 77 places and Giorgos Kosmas 185.

The capital of Kosovo becomes the second stop of Sgouropoulos in the WTT tournaments in the new season. At the end of August, the five-time European champion had finished in the top 8 of the Czech Feeder. Stamatouros is making his debut this year in a corresponding event, the two of them were together at the recent European Individual Championships.

After the bye at the “64”, Sgouropoulos is waiting for an opponent from South Korea on Wednesday night. In the first round, Cho Kyeong will face Kwak Yoo Bin at noon. The Eleusinian ace is number 10 in the tournament seeding.

Stamatouros also advances without a fight to the “32”, but he already knows who he will meet. On Wednesday afternoon he will face the Slovenian Peter Hribar, who is number 14 in the event. Our Piraeus champion is number 30 in the seeding.

Board of ’16’ with 7 byes includes men’s doubles as there was little participation. Sgouropoulos and Stamatouros go through to the eight without a fight, where they will face the second favorite, the Koreans Ho Jeongmun/Kim Minwoo, on Thursday.
