As soon as he started playing in the knockouts, he was “stormy”: On the board of 128, he defeated the Ukrainian Maksim Korchuk 15-6, on the board of 64 the Austrian Nikolas Sisso-Eske with 15-14, on the board of 32 Hungarian Donat Kis with 15-6 and in the board of 16 the Italian Filippo Brignoli with 15-9.
In the crucial match for the promotion to the podium, he also overcame the obstacle of the Ukrainian Arseny Karapis with 11-10 in the advantage and secured a medal for the second consecutive U17 European Cup event.
He may have been defeated 15-9 in the semi-final by the eventual winner of the event, the Italian Francesco Delfino, but it is important that Nikos Tsokas’ athlete will return from Austria with… a heavier suitcase for the second time in October.
