Chelsea: “We will ask for special permission from the government to operate as normally as possible”

by

Chelsea are expected to enter into negotiations with the British government, following the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich and the club as a whole.

As they announced in their announcement Londonerswill ask to “lighten” the restrictions on the club, so that “we can operate as normally as possible” obviously meaning how to allow them to proceed with transfers and renewals of players.

The announcement in detail:

Chelsea Football Club has been informed that its owner Roman Abramovich has been punished by the UK government.

Due to its 100% ownership of Chelsea FC plc, which is also affiliated with companies under its influence, Chelsea FC is normally subject to the same sanctions regime as Mr Abramovich. However, the UK government has issued a general permit allowing Chelsea FC to continue certain activities.

We will finish our men and women team today against Norwich and West Ham respectively, and we intend to participate in discussions with the UK Government on the scope of the license. This will include discussing the modification of the license in order to allow the club to operate as normally as possible. We will also seek guidance from the UK Government on the impact of these measures on Chelsea and the important work in our communities.

The club will inform further when it is appropriate to do so.
