Giorgos Zaravinas emphasized that the men’s national handball players were nervous in the first half against Georgia and that they missed many opportunities for a bigger difference due to the many mistakes made and that they had a clear mind in the passive game of the Georgians.
In detail: “Very stressed in the first half without having the necessary flow and movement. In the second half, the team was very strong in defense, the guys gave everything. We had clear 6-5 chances to open the gap but, due to unforced errors, we couldn’t do it.
The Georgia team found many goals with passive play at the end of the attack, which also affected us psychologically. Nevertheless, with a clear mind and mental reserves, we managed to get the victory.”
Petros Bukovinas emphasized that: “We knew that it would be a difficult match and that Georgia would fight until the last minute. We said to be patient and that was the ‘key’ today. Even though we were behind by 4 goals, we managed to ‘turn’ the match around.
Many congratulations to my teammates, it was a pure team win. For another match our defense was fantastic. For this win to count we have to go to Bosnia and win.”
