by

It has been known for a few days now that Edu Gaspar has resigned from the position of Arsenal’s sporting director, taking a similar position in the teams of Vangelis Marinakis, without this having yet been announced. The management of Arsenal, however, acted quickly and is close to replacing him.

Edu Gaspar was Arsenal’s sporting director for two years (2022-24), while since 2019 he has been the club’s technical director. At the same time, he was a member of the unbeaten English champions in the 2003-04 season.

The cooperation of the two sides stopped, however, as the Brazilian resigned, looking for a new project in his career. This is exactly what he found in the person of Vangelis Marinakis and now only the signatures are left to assume a position in the teams of the Greek businessman for the next few years. In fact, his salary will be “tripled”, according to reports, while he will have the right to be in the position of CEO.

The Gunners are in the market for his replacement, with an old acquaintance looking to be the frontrunner. The reason for “Little Mozart”, as is his nickname, Tomas Rozicki, as reported by FootMercato. The great ex-Arsenal footballer, with many years of presence at the English club, offered a lot and was unforgettable to the friends of the team.

Now, he is ready if he is finally given the chance to excel from another position, helping the club he has loved and been loved in these 10 years of presence. Arsenal’s alternative solution is Per Mertesacker, who is already at the club. Of course, the odds are in favor of the former, as he knows the position from his time at Sparta Prague.
