Stoiximan Super League: The top is decided in Toumba, Panathinaikos is looking for a reaction against Lamia

by

Especially important it’s the derby in Tuba, where PAOK welcomes Olympiakosfor the 11th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.

Each result can affect the situation that took shape since yesterday in the championship, with the defeat of Aris in Agrinio and the victory of AEK on the AKTOR Star in New Philadelphia.

Specifically, if the “black and white” win they will find themselves alone at the top, while if the Mendiliber team wins, they will tie with Aris and AEK at the top.

Something similarwill happen for the “Doubleheader of the North”, in case the match in Thessaloniki ends in a draw.

Special interest so does the match between Panathinaikos and Lamia, as if the “greens” win, they may overtake (in the case of a loss) or tie (in the case of a draw) the “red and whites”.

The program opens with the fight OFI-Athens Kallitheaat 16:00 (CosmoteSport 1) and the match follows half an hour later Levadeakos-Volos (16:30, Novasports Prime).

OFI-Athens Kallithea

OFI and Athens Kallithea have co-existed for four seasons in the First National/Super League, which is the number of appearances of the Athens team in its history in the top division.

Three of the four matches that have taken place in Crete between the two teams have ended in draws. No goals have been scored in two of them (0-0), while they also have one with 1-1.

OFI prevailed in the first meeting between them, on January 19, 2003 with 2-1 (42′ Kiassos, 71′ Kiassos – 75′ Savvidis). Since then there have been three consecutive draws.

OFI, however, has a total of three wins in all the matches at both venues, having managed to win two of the four games at the home of Athens Kallithea.

Even more surprising is the tradition in favor of OFI in the matches between the two teams in the second division, where they have met in both venues ten times and the Cretan team has prevailed in seven and there are also three draws.

Essentially, the last victory of Athens Kallithea against OFI was on October 31, 2004, when OFI won 3-1 in Athens and since then in eleven matches between them for all categories and the Greek Cup, the Cretan team is undefeated ( 7 wins – 4 draws).

Levadeakos-Volos

The two teams have met just twice in their history, having co-existed in the same division only in the 2022-23 season, when they were in the Super League.

That season Volos prevailed in both matches, 2-1 in Volos and 3-0 in Viotia. The 2-1 in Magnesia was written with the goals of Tsokanis (62′), Delesic (67′), while for Levadeiakos Moutino opened the scoring in the 53rd minute.

The match at Levadeakou’s home was on February 6, 2023 and the goals came from Felipe (61′), Deletic (69′) and Koutsia (90′).

Levadeiakos are winless in this year’s league and have already broken their previous negative record, which saw them winless in the first nine games of the 2022-23 season. Then on the 10th he won against Atromitos 2-1. This season they have five matches at home (3 draws – 2 losses).

On the other hand, Volos has three wins in four matches away from home, while at home it remains winless in six matches (1 draw – 5 losses).

Panathinaikos-Lamia

The streak created by Panathinaikos, with seven consecutive home and away wins against Lamia, was broken with a 2-2 draw in last year’s match between the two teams at the Alexandra Avenue stadium for the regular duration of the championship.

The Greens then prevailed in both games of the Playoffs and thus in the last ten matches between them for the championship and the Greek Cup there are nine victories of Panathinaikos and this 2-2 draw.

Four of Panathinaikos’ six home wins over Lamia have been 2-0, while the other two have been 3-1. Their only goalless draw was a 0-0 draw on 30 January 2021.

The two teams met for the first time in their history in 1964-65 for the “32” of the Greek Cup, where Lamia made it difficult for Panathinaikos, who took the victory in extra time after 1-1 after 90 minutes. They met again in 1967-68 for the “32”, this time in Lamia, with Panathinaikos getting the qualification again in extra time and again the match at 90 minutes ending with 1-1.

PAOK-Olympiakos

There are only four home wins in the last 14 matches between the two teams in the Greek Championship and Cup. In fact, two of them were in the last matches between them for the Playoffs, where PAOK won 2-0 at home and Olympiacos won 2-1.

At the same time, in the last ten meetings between them, only one goal has not been scored, in the goalless draw in Toumba on February 5, 2023. Only in three of the ten games have both sides not scored, since apart from this goalless draw there is the victory of Olympiakos with 1-0 in Toumba on May 14, 2023 with 1-0 and the last victory of PAOK for the Playoffs (12.05.2024) with 2-0.

PAOK had maintained an unbeaten streak at home against Olympiacos for 21 consecutive matches, since September 21, 1969, when Olympiacos won 2-1, and managed to leave with victory again on May 24, 1992, 2-1. In total in these 21 games, PAOK had 19 wins and two draws, while also scoring their biggest victory against Olympiakos with 6-1 at the stadium of Serres on December 6, 1987.

Giorgos Skartados has scored the most goals in matches against PAOK at home and with six goals he is in first place, while six footballers follow with four, Afentoulidis, Koudas, Sarafis, Kermanidis, Guerino, Djordjevic.
