ASEA Kefalonia & Ithaki went alone to the top of the A2 men’s division

With the meetings of the 5th and 6th matchday, today 10/11 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the championships of the A2 national table tennis category continued. In the men, ASEA Kefalonia & Ithaki increased the streak with two more victories, even prevailed with the wide 4-0 of the roommate at the top, until Sunday, AO Xylokastro and is now alone 1st. Among the women, Tataula and DAO Tavrou experienced their first defeats in the afternoon, however, after the matches of the penultimate match of the 1st round, they remained at the highest rating levels.

In men’s A2, the top match between the two teams from Western Greece stood out. Kefalonia & Ithaki presented itself so strong that it managed to prevail with 4-0. With the iconic Yannis Vlotinos winning a 3-0 set against Nikos Antoniadis and Diego Orantes from El Salvador, the Bosnian Luka Mihailovic beating Dimitris Kordoutis 3-1 and Manolis Sgouromalli with Orantes 3-1. Xylokastro is only in 2nd place, as in the evening it scored a very difficult victory over Athena Magoufana with 4-3.

In the decisive doubles, Antoniadis/Kordoutis defeated Katsaprakakis/Sotiropoulos with a 3-1 set. In the remaining individual games, Antoniadis defeated Katsaprakakis with 3-0 sets and Sotiropoulos with 3-1 and Kordoutis defeated Katsaprakakis with 3-1. For the team of Pefki, the Cypriot Sarbel defeated Orantes and Kordoutis 3-0, while Sotiropoulos had a no-match victory over Orantes due to injury.

Suspense, passion and tensions earlier characterized the match between Athena and DAO Tavros. He reached the doubles and had the Magufana team as the final winner with 4-3. DAOT went to 3rd place together with Elefsina.

After the end of the match, the DAO of Tavros lodged an objection “because the athlete of Athens Marios Katsaprakakis, while he was not on the bench of his team throughout the team match, took part in the doubles”.

GAS Elefsis stayed high in the standings after a narrow 4-3 victory over Phoinikas Agia Sofia. In the decisive doubles, Andreas Karampelias/Kiril Popov defeated Pantelis Triantafyllidis/Yiannis Malamoudis with 3-2 sets. Earlier, the Bulgarian Popov achieved two victories, while Dimitris Stamou had tied at 3-3 by defeating Kostas Fakaros. Malamoudis, Triantafyllidis and Fakaros each had a positive result for the Piraeus team.

In the doubles, OEA Rethymnon also managed to achieve its maiden victory this year. He edged Ifitos Patrons 4-3 when Yiannis Koutras/Yiannis Anastasiadis defeated Ivailo Kosef/Konstantinos Fragakis in five sets. Immediately before, the Cretans scored two more victories in five sets with Anastasiadis and Giorgos Gerakios, while Koutras had a positive result at the beginning. For Ifitos, the Bulgarian Kossef had two victories and Fragakis one.

The A2 women’s competitions also had very interesting matches in store. OA Chania initially forced DAO Tavros into its first defeat. He prevailed 4-2 with the support of 15-year-old Stella Mavromatakis, Vassiliki Boulas and Angela Noure again this year.

Tataula also aimed to extend the winning streak, but they found Phoinikas Agia Sofias on an excellent day. The team of Piraeus achieved a great victory with 4-1 relying on Elisavet Hatzikyrka, Christina Athanasopoulou Mary Koukoutou.

DAOT had a second derby today and was against its sibling, the equally powerful PKD Tavros. She immediately risked another defeat, until she prevailed 4-3 in the doubles against Georgiadou/Tundakova.

At the same time, Tataula defeated the bottom team of Heraklion Attica with 4-1, thus maintaining together with DAOT in the 1st place. Chania and PKD Tavrou are together in 3rd place in the standings. In the evening, Phoenix Piraeus had another strong match against Phoenix Patras and with 4-2 managed to double the victories of the day.
