Gagatsis: “Ignite the flame that can unite all of Greece and burn the toxicity”

On behalf of the Hellenic Football Federation, I welcome you to the full of positive energy OAKA, to a special football night thanks to your massive turnout and enthusiastic presence.

Following the sell out in the last match of the National Team at the Karaiskaki stadium against Ireland, it is now evident that the fans of the whole country passionately support our internationals, as they see in the National Team the elements they love in football: competitiveness, winning spirit and true respect for the game itself.

The impressive reconnection of the national team with its public is a great victory. Much greater in value than what the players and our coach, Mr. Jovanovic, in their matches since September.

The flame that can unite all of Greece and burn the toxicity has been rekindled.

Hope was born again, which can cause euphoria and dispel misery.

Vitality has returned, which can fill us with pride and banish inferiority.

We march together: the Federation, the team, the world. With unity.

We are sending this message to all of football today. The EPO’s invitation to all the coaches of the Super League teams to watch tonight’s match between Greece and England has this symbolism. The strong relationship that the clubs must have with each other, but also with the National Team, in essence sheds light on the big picture: the strong relationship that we all must have with each other, regardless of our collective preferences. Because, as I have already stated and firmly believe, much more unites us than divides us.

Above all, we are united by the National Team, with whom we have acquired a long-term relationship. It is with great joy and honor that we participate today in the awarding of the footballers and contributors to the conquest of the European Championship, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of EURO 2004.
