PAOK left “Melina Merkouri” triumphant and a pioneer!

PAOK painted the big top derby of the Women’s Volleyball League with Olympiakos in black and white!

The “Two-Headed of the North” was superior for most of the game and finally celebrated the great victory with 3-1 sets (23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 23-25) in “Melina Merkouri”, being now alone first at the top of the standings, as his only team that has 6 wins in the first 6 matches! First defeat for Olympiakos, who stayed in second place.

Olympiacos came in stronger at the start of the derby, taking a 5-2 lead, while it was maintained at +2 until 12-10, when PAOK found a rhythm, took its first lead after 0-1 (13-14 ), went ahead with 18-15. The home team fought back to level at 20-20, but the visitors were superior in the final straight of the first set, which they won with 25-23.

With the momentum, PAOK took a 5-3 lead at the start of the second set, leading up to 11-8, but Olympiacos went on an impressive 10-1 run from 14-14 to 24-15, eventually equalizing comfortably (25-16).

In the third set, from the beginning to the end, the two teams went hand in hand in the score, with PAOK leading 12-10 and Olympiacos leading 18-16, but with the score at 21- 21 the visiting women took 4 straight points, doing so 25-21 and 2-1 in sets.

In the fourth set, Olympiacos led 4-2, but PAOK did not take long to react, going ahead 9-6, while even though the “red and white” found a rhythm and approached the “final stretch” of the set, being at +2 (19- 17), PAOK closed the match stronger, doing so 25-23 and celebrating the great “double” for him!
