Milenkonski: “We played the way I wanted after the first set”

Josko Milenkonski emphasized that all European volleyball games are difficult, he is waiting for news from Laftov’s injury, he believes that the victories in Europe provide psychology for the successes to come in the Greek championship as well, so that the high goals within the borders are confirmed and he expects similar faced by his team in the next phase of the Challenge Cup.

In detail: “It is difficult to play European games because each one is particularly difficult. We were very good in Las Palmas, but we had to be focused again today to qualify. After the first set, we played the way I wanted and finally qualified.

Of course Laftov’s injury is a significant blow and we will see the extent of his injury, but Mouchlias replaced him deservedly. Now, we have before us the Greek championship, in which we must show an even better face to get the victories we want. European matches give us easier victories, as a result of which the team’s morale rises. In the next round we also have a passable opponent, which I think we can knock out.

The Greek league is becoming more and more difficult, there are difficult seats like those of Milos and OFI, but we have high goals and we should confirm this. Last year we had a similar start, but then we picked up our performance and won the Super Cup. So this year we can do something similar.”

Wessel Kemmink added: “My team gained confidence from point to point and from set to set. It was a great qualification for us and although it was difficult with the injury and the absence of Laftov, we were focused and serious and managed to get the coveted qualification.”
