Drone footage broadcast by Ukrainian television reportedly shows the execution of more than 10 people.
Kiev once again denounced executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian army.
Two Ukrainian soldiers, who had been captured by Russian forces, were executed a week and a half ago near the community of Novodmitryvka in the Donetsk region (east), local authorities announced on Wednesday. The defenseless victims were forced to strip before their execution, according to the same source.
Three more wounded were reportedly executed in the same area as Russian forces tighten the cordon around the strategic city of Pokrovsk.
In a Telegram post, Ukrainian parliament’s human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets also referred to an execution of prisoners in Russia’s Kursk region. Drone footage broadcast by Ukrainian television reportedly shows the execution of more than 10 people.
Lubinets said that he informed the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross about the specific incident in a letter.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, dozens of prisoners of war have been killed – mostly by the Russian military, according to UN figures.
