Verstappen: “I would have won this year’s title with McLaren or Ferrari”

THE Max Verstappen he is convinced he would have won this year’s drivers’ title in Formula 1if he was driving on her behalf McLaren or her Ferrariinstead of the Red Bull car. The Dutchman was crowned world champion for the fourth consecutive year, two races before the end of the season, with his fifth place in the Las Vegas Grand Prix, putting out of the “race” Lando Norris.

Verstappen started 2024 with the RB20 as the dominant car and celebrated four wins in the first five races of the season. However, since May McLaren began to make a huge leap and “close the gap” thanks to the upgrades she brought to her car which gave the Lando Norris the “maiden” victory of his career at the Miami Grand Prix. Also, during the season they celebrated victories both Ferrarias well as Mercedes.

But the Dutchman argued that “for 70% of the season we didn’t have the fastest car” and declared convinced that he would have celebrated this year’s title by driving the cars of his closest competitors. Asked if he could have won the title with McLaren, he replied: “Yes, even earlier, so (I would be) even further ahead. With Ferrari, I think more or less the same. With Mercedes, no. I think that would be more difficult.”
