The event was opened & directed by Christos Sotirakopoulos who has been associated with mini football in our country since 2002 and is this year once again at the side of the Greek internationals.
The presentation of the jersey had a very special character this year. It is based on the jersey that Greece played in in 1969 for the World Cup qualifiers in Mexico. For this reason Mimis Domazos was invited and awarded in an emotional atmosphere at the event, representing that golden generation of Sideris, Papaioannou, Kouda and the other holy monsters.
Mimis Domazos in turn wished the players good success and spoke to them about the difficulties of the time when he was competing, about his insurmountable love for football & the preparation of the matches and how proud they should feel to compete in the colors of our country .
Afterwards, Christos Sotirakopoulos spoke about the very important presence of the sponsors of the Greek team and their support over time. In fact, he referred to the big sponsor OPAP, which has been supporting the sport and the entire ecosystem of Socca Greece and OPAP Unileague for many years.
Afterwards, Nassos Liagas, President & CEO of NOS, Nikolas Papazisis, CEO of Theseas SA Recovery and Rehabilitation Center and George Triantafyllidis, Marketing Director of VETO (Umbro’s Official Representative in Greece and Cyprus) took the floor, representing the sponsors who the Greek team has on its jersey. They spoke to the players and the technical team giving them the best wishes for the World Cup in Oman and also a promise for their eternal and future support to the team. On behalf of the Municipality of Piraeus, Nikos Gemelos, Deputy Mayor for Sports, spoke emphasizing the city’s hospitality to the blue and white team for years at the level of team preparation.
The press conference ended with the speech of the coach Mr. Giorgos Bastakis who is on the bench of the Greek Team for the fourth time while this will be his third as first coach and the new captain of the team Stratos Fouskas in his fifth participation with the blue and whites. They both promised that they will make the maximum effort to reach even higher in the fulfillment of the great goal which is nothing but a distinction for the representative group.
