Stefanos Tsitsipas made an admittedly troubling post on his Instagram account. The Greek tennis player uploaded a series of photos and videos with one of them attracting attention as it refers to children being raised by narcissistic parents.
“The last few months have been a quiet storm of development. Through mistakes, risks and endless possibilities, life reveals its beauty – not in perfection, but in its bold unpredictability. What’s coming? Only time will tell.” it says in the description of the entire post, however at the end of the photo-videos that this post contains there is a video that stands for children who have narcissistic parents.
The video details:
“The child of a narcissistic parent learns early on that love is conditional.
They quickly realize that they will only be loved for what they do and not for who they are.
They feel their parent can’t meet their emotional needs, so they learn to perform – excel in sports, academics, or become their parents’ confidant, their emotional support.
The child abandons his true self, transforming him into whatever version his highly judgmental and opinionated parent deems valuable.
Without a genuine sense of self, they become addicted to external validation.
This creates a lifelong pattern of living in which he learns to please others but betrays himself.
Their relationships become transactional, always based on what they can offer others.
Deep within them lies a sense of betrayal, yes they were loved but unknowingly used by the most important person in their world.
Anxiety, anger, and pain remain buried until they are finally ready to acknowledge those wounds.”
