Solemn re-election of Leonakis to ELOP

Stergios Leonakis is once again president of ELOP. The members of the Hellenic Wrestling Federation decided by an overwhelming majority to renew their confidence in Mr. Leonaki. In total, 48 unions voted in the election of the day, of which 46 trusted the president of ELOP.

Konstantinos Thanos was voted representative of the federation in the Hellenic Olympic Committee as a regular member with 46 crosses, as well as Dimitris Trabakoulas as an alternate with 42.

After the seniority, the members who will staff the Board of Directors are in order: Thanos Konstantinos, Dimitris Trambakoulas, Irini Kofinadeli, Anastasios Beazidis, Liakos Sokratis, Nikolaos Bougas, Antonia Papadakis, Barbas Ioannis, Batzakidis Fanouris, Kasapoglou Chrysoula, Nitsios Alexandros, Plavou Konstantina.

Alternate members are Tasioulis Panagiotis and Lambrinopoulou Argyro respectively.

The selection committee will be staffed by: George Lavasidis, Kapernekas Andronikis and Apostolou Thomas.

The president of the Greek Federation, immediately after his election, said: “I would like, from the bottom of my heart, to thank all the unions that trusted us and voted for us in the elections. The renewal of my term is particularly important as we will be able to continue the work we have started.

In the last three years we have experienced unique moments. Many successes in all age groups. Many medals from young athletes, from our big names and, of course, the dream of the Olympic Games. Three of our children participated in Paris, culminating in the huge success we had with the bronze medal won by Dauren Kurugliev after 20 years.

I especially want to thank my colleagues who decided not to continue in the new term. The kind cooperation of all these years, their contribution, their passion and their love for our sport is worthy of praise.

I would like to congratulate all the members of the Board of Directors on their election and together we will continue our work to bring even greater successes”.
