Malone on Brown’s firing: “They have no class, they have no … balls”

by

In a surprising decision, the Sacramento Kings fired Mike Brown, the coach who led them to the NBA playoffs in the 2022-23 season after a 16-year “drought.”

A colleague of his, Mr Michael Malonetechnician of Nuggetsspoke very harshly about the administration of the “kings”. In particular, he focused on the manner in which the dismissal was carried out, when Mr Brown was on the way to the airport in order to fly to Los Angeles for the next Kings game.

At the same time, he emphasized that his front office Sacramento had sacked him in a similar manner in the 2013-14 season.

In detail what he said:

Terrible. And the reason I say that, is that we’re going to meet that afternoon. The good thing about me is that I’m honestly not on social media, I’m not aware of what’s going on.

I go to the meeting and they say ‘have you heard of Mike Brown?’ And I say ‘why what happened?’ ‘Fired’. At first I was really shocked and surprised and I say to myself, why am I shocked and surprised?

For two reasons. First, because as an NBA coach you will take the blame. When they win the credit goes to Sabonis and Fox, when you lose the blame goes to Mike Brown. That’s how it works. Second, who does it work for? I’m not surprised that Mike Brown was fired, because I was fired by the same person.

What pisses me off is they lost yesterday, they had practice this morning, he’s talking to reporters, he’s getting in his car to go to the airport to go to LA and they call him. They have no class, no ‘balls’.
