Rose teared up at the Bulls’ honors

The greatest player to wear their jersey after the great Michael Jordan was honored by the Bulls. The Chicago team chose a significant date, 4/1/25, as did the numbers worn in his career Derrick Rosefor a moving halftime ceremony against the Knicks.

It is a celebration for everyone, for the good, for the bad, for those who were part of this story. Thank you Chicago for pushing me to be great and expecting so much from me“, emphasized Rose, who cried on several occasions during the 17-minute ceremony.

He played eight seasons in his hometown of Chicago, winning the MVP award in 2010. Injuries kept him from reaching the point where he could lead the Bulls to a title, but his impact was such that he organization to make him just the fifth player to have his jersey retired (next season), following Jerry Sloan (4), Bob Love (10), Michael Jordan (23) and Scottie Pippen (33).

Rose was spoken about, live or on video, by many teammates and opponents, from LeBron James, to Joakim Noah and Kyle Korver, while on the opposite bench was Tom Thibodeau, with whom he grew up on the Bulls.

Earlier, the organization informed him that his jersey would be retired and he broke down in tears. “No one else will ever wear #1 again, unless it’s your son, PJ,” he was told, and D-Rose broke down in tears.
