“As is known, three years ago, the President of the Aris Amateur Association, Mr. Arvanitis, and the President of the Aris PAE, Mr. Karypidis, asked me to support the charge against the defendants for the heinous crime involving the late Alki Kampanos.
They put me in contact with the Kampanou family and immediately, as I practice law in Athens, I started practicing my work.
I repeatedly visited the Investigator who conducted the regular interrogation and asked her to carry out a series of investigative acts, all of which were carried out.
The result was that 12 perpetrators were brought to the dock and eventually referred to be tried as accomplices, despite the fact that there was only one victim, for the crime of accomplice homicide by intent in a calm state of mind.
After 53 trials, in which they attended paying all the procedural costs personally (even the pre-collection fee) the trial was completed in the first degree with absolute vindication of my substantive and scientific opinions, which coincided with the opinions of the Prosecutor, Ms. Kliaba and all the defendants, with the exception of two, were sentenced to life imprisonment.
After the decision was issued, I expected at least a moral reward for my scientific and human effort to receive at least a moral reward from the football organization of the historical ARIS Thessaloniki, a fact which never happened to my great disappointment.
However, I was also greatly disappointed by the fact that the Kampanou family did not even invite me to a dinner so that I could receive at least some moral satisfaction and hear at least five warm words for all my selfless contribution, which was not limited to just the presence in the trials, but also in important meetings, in cooperation with the then President of the Supreme Court and the then Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Ms. Georgiou and Mr. Pliotas, so that the Kampanou family can be sure that in this trial, as opposed to others held in Thessaloniki, the result would be a fair judgement.
A few days ago and after months I received a call from my colleague from Thessaloniki, Mr. Pultsidis, who told me that they are waiting for me on 10/1/2025 at the Thessaloniki MOE to once again lead the particularly sensitive step of supporting the accusation and a week ago I received the first phone calls from the mother and father of Alkis Kampanos, who told me that they consider it self-evident that I will be attorney in the case.
I did not answer, but to-day I have made up my mind, which is this: I will not be a defense attorney, because the mental connection which a lawyer like myself should feel with those who choose him to represent them has been completely lost. represent.
I hope that the lawyers who will replace me will help the court to issue a just decision, which will do justice to the memory of this 19-year-old child who did not get to live what he deserved, but at the same time issue a decision that will have all the characteristics of justice trial».
