The match:

The pace of the match was excellent in the first eight minutes, where the attacks of the two countries had the first say in the match. Japan led 2-0 in the first two minutes, with the National our team to immediately equalize with two of his goals Papanastasiou. Takata, Suzuki and Inaba scored 2-5 for the typical visitors, before the “blue and white” equalized at 5-5 of the eighth minutethanks to Argyropoulos’ two goals in man-up situations, but also Chalivopoulos’ goal.

The scene was similar in second eight minutes, with the two teams going hand in hand in scoring throughout. Taking advantage of the condition of the player above, the team of Thodoris Vlachos found solutions with the goals of Argyropoulos and Nicolaidis, while, a little later, they took the lead for the first time with a goal of Papanastasiou for 8-7 at 12:30! Afterwards, Genidounias added his name to the scoreboard with a goal from 6 meters (9-9), at the time when the Japanese closed the half time in front of the score for 9-10.

In the third eight minutes, the Greek defense spoke! Thanks to our excellent performance at the back of the pool, but also the great interventions of Zerdeva, Greece managed to control the match and bring the match to their own devices, performing an incredible performance in attack as well! With a penalty by Constantinos Genidounias and a goal by Stelios Argyropoulos, our representative group led 11-10 in the first two minutes, to be followed by our fifth successful point in a man over with Gillas to it says 12-10 two minutes later! In fact, our team continued in the same pattern with Papanastasiou, Genidounias, Skoubakis and Gillas “bombarding” the opposing nets for 16-11 of the eight minute!

With acquired speed and psychology at its height, our national team did not leave the foot off the gas even at the beginning of the fourth and last eight minutes, where with individual scores of 3-0 and scorers Nikolaidis, Skoubakis and Genidounias, they did 19-11 in 3 minutes. Somewhere there, as was logical, our internationals took turns, which Japan took advantage of to reduce in the final 20-16.
