The 20th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League continues today with three matches, with the game of greatest interest being that between AEK and Panaitolikos in New Philadelphia.
After what followed the derby at the Olympic Stadium with Panathinaikos, Almeida’s meetings with Mr. Iliopoulos who brought the Argentinian’s stay, everything shows that tonight’s match in New Philadelphia will turn into a party for the “Union” coach and of course everyone would like this to be combined with a victory over the team of Yannis Petrakis.
Beyond that, at 17:00 there are the matches Asteras AKTOR-Athens Kallithea and OFI-Panserraikos, which are also of interest for the battle for the 5th European ticket for next season and of course, for the playoffs to stay in first category.
ASTERAS AKTOR-Athens Kallithea
The two teams met for the first time in their history in the 1st National/Super League in the 1st Round match that took place at the Alexandra Avenue stadium and ASTERAS AKTOR prevailed 3-1.
The two teams have coexisted for just one year in the same division, in 2006-07, when Athens Kallithea had returned to the second division after four years in the First National/Super League and ASTERAS AKTOR gained promotion to the Super League for the first time time in its history.
In 2006-07 the two teams each had a 2-1 home win. With Athens Kallithea in Round 1 taking the lead with the goals of Kazantzis (6′), Karatzas (14′) and Martins writing the final score for the Arcadia team. In the Second Round, ASTERAS AKTOR won 2-1 (75′, 83′ Ioannou – 13′ Voskaridis).
In this year’s First Round match, ASTERAS AKTOR won 3-1. Bartolo opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Gianni temporarily equalized at 1-1 and Kaltsas (71′) and Makeda (77′) completed the final score.
OFI-Panserraikos
OFI in its last four home matches against Panserraikos, regardless of category and organization, has four wins without conceding a goal.
At the same time in their last three games the Cretan team has remained unbeaten, with a victory on February 19, 2024 at home and then had a 2-2 draw for last year’s Playouts and a 3-2 victory in Serres for the First Round of this year’s championship.
OFI has a total of 12 home wins against Lions and has kept a clean sheet in ten of them. His favorite score is 2-0, with which he has defeated Panserraikos four times, while 1-0 follows with three appearances.
Panserraikos has managed to leave Heraklion victorious just once and that happened on June 6, 1971, where they won 3-1.
Three of their four draws are 0-0, with one remaining 1-1. This means that Panserraikos has scored in just four of its 16 visits to OFI’s headquarters.
Two of OFI’s six wins in this year’s championship are in home games, while on the other hand, Panserraikos has three wins at home and three away from home.
AEK-Panitolikos
AEK have won ten of the twelve home matches against Panaitolikos, while there is a goalless draw between them on January 4, 2017, in the only game in their history in the First National/Super League that has not seen a goal in both venues .
Panaitolikos has scored in just three of the twelve matches he has played against AEK. He has scored in his last two visits to the home of the Yellow and Black, in the 2-1 win at OAKA and last year’s 4-1 loss at New Philadelphia.
The history of their matches began in 1975-76 in New Philadelphia, with AEK winning 4-0 (16′ Dedes, 20′ Wagner, 35′ Dedes, 79′ Papaioannou). AEK prevailed with the same score (4-0) the following season at the New Philadelphia stadium, thanks to two goals by Nikoloudis, while Papadopoulos and Ardizoglou scored one each. These two matches and their last two are the only ones that have been played at AEK’s physical home. That is, only four of their 12 games have been in New Philadelphia.
4-0 is the most frequent score in AEK’s victories, since in addition to the two in the first “lines” in the history of the two teams’ meetings, they scored one more in the 2018-19 season. Next are 1-0 and 2-0 with two appearances each.
