The 20th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League concludes today with three games.
In particular, at 17:00 the Lamia-Aris game is scheduled, with the Thessalonians being in 6th place in the standings after Asteras AKTOR which is in 5th place with 31 points, after yesterday’s victory over Athens Kallithea.
Two and a half hours later, at 19:30, there is PAOK’s game against Levadeiakos in Toumba, with Razvan Lucescu watching his team’s match again from the stands.
At 20:30 we have the Olympiacos-Panathinaikos derby in Karaiskakis, with the Piraeus team breaking last year’s play-offs a general series of seven matches away from home without defeat that the “clover” had created, after the “red and whites” prevailed on the 16 May 2021 with 4-1 at the Alexandra Avenue stadium.
Lamia-Aris
After three consecutive victories of Lamia in the league and the Greek Cup, Aris took the victory in their last year’s match for the Playoffs of the championship with 4-2 in Fthiotida and broke the home team’s streak. In fact, he has three consecutive victories with the two matches that took place at his home.
This will be the 20th time overall and 14th for the Stoiximan Super League that Lamia and Aris will meet. The two teams have faced each other for the Greek Cup, but also in the second division for a season they coexisted.
Their first meeting was for the Greek Cup, on August 30, 1995, when they met at Lamia’s stadium for the group stage in a single match. Aris won 1-0 thanks to the goal of Nikos Tsiantakis, while the two opponents had completed the game with ten players, after Vukotits and Pozapalidis were shown a red card in the 42nd minute.
There is no match in which a goal has not been scored against the host Lamia, while the only 0-0 in their 13 total matches in both venues was recorded on January 23, 2022 in Thessaloniki.
PAOK-Levadiakos
PAOK has 13 consecutive wins at home against Levadeiakos for the championship and 15 together with their matches for the Greek Cup. In ten of them he has not conceded a single goal, while only five of them have been within one goal (three with 1-0, one with 2-1 and their last which was with 3-2.
The streak of 13 wins started after the only goalless draw between the two teams in Toumba on October 26, 1994. Levadeiakos has one win against PAOK and that was achieved on May 26, 1991 with a score of 3-2. The score was formed with the goals of Kavalieris, Marinakis, Pehlivanidis, while Skartados and Athanasiadis had scored for the hosts.
Only two of PAOK’s 17 wins in league matches are with a score of 1-0, while in the most popular scores there is a three-way tie for first place, with 2-0, 3-0 and 3-1 having three appearances each.
Five goals have been scored in the last three games between the two teams. In 2022-23, the match ended with a 3-2 victory for PAOK, while in the two previous matches in Toumba, Levadeiakos was defeated 5-0, both in 2017-18 and 2018-19. These are also PAOK’s biggest victories against the Viotia team.
Olympiacos-Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos have gone eight consecutive matches without defeat against Olympiakos in all competitions, something that has never happened since 1959-60 and the establishment of the First National/Super League. The Greens went on a seven game unbeaten run between 1969-1972 and 2021-2023. The tally during this period is five draws and three wins in matches played for the league and the Greek Cup.
In fact, Panathinaikos has just one defeat in its last 16 games against the Red and Whites in both venues, since the Greens had seven matches unbeaten from 2021 to 2023 (3 wins – 4 draws). The victory of Olympiakos in the process of last year’s Stoiximan Playoffs as a home team broke a general streak of seven independent home games without defeat that Panathinaikos had created after the dominance of the Reds on May 16, 2021 with 4-1 at the Alexandra Avenue stadium.
The first match at A National/Stoiximan Super League level between the two teams with Olympiacos at home took place on July 24, 1960 and Panathinaikos prevailed 4-1 with Andreas Papaemmanouil scoring the first hat trick in a derby and the other goal of visitors came with an own goal by Laimos. Kostas Papazoglou scored for Olympiakos.
The most frequent score in the matches between them is 1-1 and 1-0 with 13 appearances each. 0-0 with 9 appearances is in third place and from there on 2-1 with six and 1-2 with five follow.
