Mandatory two pits to the Grand Prix of Monaco

by

The International Car Federation of Motor Sports (FIA) has approved the proposal to implement a two-piece compulsory strategy on the Grand Prix of Monaco.

This development follows today’s instrument meeting via a teleconference, which coincided with the launch of Formula One’s winter tests in Bahrain. The change, which will apply to both “dry” races and to the raining of the rain, was adopted “with the primary point of improving the athletic spectacle” of this particular race.

Thus, drivers will now be obliged to use at least three sets of tires in the race, while using a minimum of two different eras, as long as the conditions are dry. This year’s Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on May 23-25.

It is worth noting that, usually, the teams follow a pitch strategy in the prince’s race, because of the importance of the position on the track, as well as the low deterioration of the tires. The overtakes are extremely difficult in this particular, narrow sirk, so the official tests and the “pole position” are much more important than other Grand Prix.

It is recalled that last year’s Monaco Grand Prix was interrupted in the first round and drivers were able to change their tires during the red flag, resulting in – most of them – not having to re -enter the pits for the rest of the race. Thus, the first ten drivers of the start reached the finish in this order.
