The group phase matches will take place in four different countries, with the first group being hosted in Riga, Latvia, the second in Tampere, Finland, the third in Limassol, Cyprus and the fourth in Katowice, Poland, while the final phase, which includes 16 games.
The four co -organizing countries have chosen from a partner country to host their group. The Greek team will compete in the third group with the hostess of Cypruswhile Latvia has chosen Estonia in the first group, Finland Lithuania in the second group and Poland in Iceland in the fourth group.
The 24 participating groups have been divided into six capacity groups based on countries’ rankings in FIBA. Each group will consist of a group of each capacity group. Greece is in the second capacity group, along with Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia, with which it cannot be drawn, as with Turkey from the first group, following a decision by FIBA Europe.
Candidates of “Official Favorite” are Serbia, Germany, France and Spain from the first group, Italy, Montenegro and Czech Republic from the third, Georgia and Israel from the fourth and Belgium, Bosnia and the UK. It is noted that the first group will certainly enter Latvia and Estonia, in the second Finland and Lithuania and the fourth Poland and Iceland.
The draw will result in four groups made up of six teams, with the top four of each group qualifying for the ’16’ phase.
