Interruption and cancellation of PPC 3rd Tour of Hellas 2025 due to adverse weather conditions

The third duties of PPC Tour of Hellas 2025 by Delphi in Chalkida had an unexpected development. About an hour and 41 kilometers before the cyclists reached the finish on the old bridge of Chalkida, and while they had entered Thebes, the race director decided to cancel the post -weather and for security reasons.

The rain, which accompanied the cyclists almost throughout the race, was very strong and the road, that is, the terrain of the race, was filled with small or larger lakes.

With the three “peeling” cyclists, German Vintsent Dorn (Bike Aid), British George Radclifis and Brazilian Nicolas Seesler (Victoria Sports Pro Cycling) to enter the city of Thebes first. About two minutes later, both Peloton and the manager of the race manager led them to a secure shed to protect themselves from the rain, which in combination with the relatively low temperature (14 degrees Celsius) made it difficult to stay in the open space.

Despite the efforts of the agonizing committee and the teams to restart the postponement, this was not possible, as the weather conditions in the kilometers of the following remained adverse. Thus, by decision of the Group’s agonizing committee and the assent of the teams, the subordinate was permanently interrupted.

“The safety of athletes is prioritized, so we decided to stop the post,” said the director of the race, Vladimir Petsas. The decision was in favor of all members of the Governor of the International Federation (UCI), as well as the teams.

Although the two ascent sprints and a straight sprint were made, the third dim would not be taken into account, and essentially tomorrow’s (April 5) from Chalkida to the Olympic Village at 1pm. It will be the sequel of the second with the ranking remaining as it was after Thursday’s end in Arachova.
