by

Full and grateful for what he lived wrote the epilogue to a 23 -year -old career the Vassilis Xanthopoulos. The 41 -year -old guard wishes he could play basketball forever, but he clarifies how and the next chapter of his life will find him in the sport that served faithfully. In detail what he said on the Peristeri website:

– At the end of the race we experienced unique moments in Peristeri with your departure in the last seconds and that followed. How did you experience it now that it’s been a while?

“I was very emotionally charged. Of course, it is a conscious decision I have made a while ago. It is a decision that while the heart may have wanted to continue, unfortunately the body did not allow me. Most importantly, I am finished in the court. It goes without saying that I want to say a very big thank you to all my teammates in Peristeri Domino’s, the coaching staff and the administration for all that happened at the end of the race. ”

– How was the last hours before you started home for the stadium? For the last time as an athlete? A 23 -year -old habit?

“It was just like the previous 23 years. Basically I didn’t think it would be the last match, I waited and thought we would win. The whole emotional charge came in the end when I made a change that had made it clear that it would be the last game of the team and mine in my career. ”

– Your family was missing from your last game. Would you like it to be by your side or you chose it because it would be even more difficult to do the game in the game?

“Ideally I would like the stadium to have people. It was all I would like. To have the stadium with my family and to have won the game. But one was a matter of regulations and the other in terms of victory, I think Panionios was rightly won. Nevertheless, I am happy because by the end we were trying to turn the game back and win it. ”

– What is your advice on young children, with the distillate of 23 years of experience?

“I did what I did with the teams I fought, because I loved what I was doing, I was in what I did and worked very much. When you love something and this is not just about sports and you work very sooner or later you will succeed. ”

– Will the next day find you on the edge of a bench?

“I think it’s clear that the next day will be on the court! I can’t be out of the court, especially for psychological reasons. It’s what I do from a very young age and I want to keep doing it from another post. I wish there was a magic wand and I could have played my whole life professionally. ”

– If you had to write the epilogue in the basketball book of your life what would you write?

“I have a huge respect and love for what I did. I didn’t expect my basketball to pay me back, but in the end basketball gave me a lot of things both as an athlete and as a human being. So what I would say is that basketball is my whole life. “
