European ping pong championship K21: Start in Bratislava, opponents of Greek athletes

by

Slovakia first organizes this European Ping Pain Under 21 in its short history and Greece is ready to make its own effort to distinguish.

Alexander Madessis, Malamates Papadimitriou and Chrysi Fotiadou went to Central Europe Tuesday and are looking forward to the start on Wednesday in the great annual event, which will last until next Sunday.

The mission departed optimistic, but on a journey that was not a pleasant atmosphere, as the tragic news of Olga Georgopoulou’s early loss had been learned a few hours before.

Madessi and Fotiadou will experience a new and valuable experience. Papadimitriou is enjoying her fourth consecutive presence in the institution and for the Greek table tennis is already very enjoyable that is represented by three athletes.

Our internationals learned their opponents on the same day in all races and start on Wednesday with the first groups of the simple.

The European Championship UNDER 21 brings together 56 athletes and equal athletes and classics only includes individual competitions. The Slovak Federation of Table Tennis hosts one of the most important events for young people in the European Union’s calendar and this year is of additional historical importance, as it is part of the celebrations for the 100 years of organized table tennis in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The three children begin their efforts from Stage 1 of the simple. In the simple men, Madessi was drawn in the second group. He will claim the qualification to German Wim Verdonschot (head), Croatian Ivan Henkl and Slovaki Damian Floro.

In the simple women, Fotiadou went to the tenth group. She faces Belgian Lilou Masar (head), Czech Veronika Poulakova and Slovaka Dominica Vilcikova.

Papadimitriou is the second favorite in the 11th group. He is an opponent with Spanish Fiona-Elvira Rand (head), German Airen Kalaitzidou (athlete related to Greece) and Bulgaria Victoria Persova.
