If you take a look at the table with the analysis of the current 5 -year Greek factor that sets our country’s 12th place in the UEFA standings, it can find both the perspective and the great challenge for Greek football.
The last two seasons, if they could be repeated in a 5-year depth, would bring Greece far above the 10th milestone, which is also the new big goal, as they are performing countries such as Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium, which are usually placed shortly after the European BIG-5.
It is worth studying and observing the fact that in the current 5 years of our teams in Europe, three of the top five seasons of Greek football have been recorded in European intercourse from 2000 until today!
It is also characteristic that Greece is one of the 55 countries of UEFA members with the highest rise in European score in the last five years from the 20th place. The new season at the start will find our country in the 11th place of UEFA Ranking behind the 10th Czech Republic which of course has a significant security distance at the level of seven wins and with Norway a short distance behind Greece in 12th place. This is essentially the first season after many years in which our country will try to try to return to 10th in the UEFA standings for the first time since 2012! And of course the reference to the 10th is because this is the last at UEFA Ranking that gives the country championship team directly on the Champions League League!
The fact that our country will participate in European competitions with five teams will require even greater harvesting than this year’s season as the Greek points of each victory and a tie will now be divided by five and not four as in this year’s season. The most important of all, of course, is how many of our teams will be able to qualify for a European League.
Ideal will of course be five out of five (or better four in four since the champion Olympiacos is already in the Champions League Leaguestage) but in any case there will be enough teams (Olympiacos, PAOK and Panathinaikos) we had at the main stadium of European competitions this year.
If Greek football manages to stabilize in the last two years, Greece’s return to European Top-10 is just a matter of time.
The new European tickets
In closing, we simply point out that European football tickets for the domestic events of the new 2025-26 season are already defined by the 12th at UEFA Ranking in which Greece finished this season. The data is quite different from this year since:
-The champion of Greece 2026 will start with the playoffs of the Champions League qualifiers and not from the second qualifier from which the Greek champion 2025 would start normally if Olympiacos did not take advantage of his high rate
-The second of the Championship 2025-26 will start from the Champions League second qualifying in the non-champion trail, as well as Panathinaikos this year
-The Greek Cup 2026 or the third of the championship will start with the Europa League playoffs and not by the third qualifying qualifying
-The third or fourth of the 2026 Championship will have no ticket to the Conference League, such as AEK this year but for the Europa League starting with the second qualifying qualifying
-The fifth Greek ticket for Europe will be for the Conference League with a start of the second qualifying, as is the case with Mars this year.
