The women’s Eurobasket was the swan song for Angeliki Nikolopoulou’s career with the national basketball team.

A course that lasted for 20 years, full of moments, feelings, hurting defeats, inspired wins, travel, training, frustrations, tears and huge pride. Because there is no greater price than wearing the jersey of your country.
I could not imagine a better finale: in my home country, in front of 10,500 people who filled the stadium, who were shouting, believed, who were moved with us. I will always carry this Eurobasket with me, not only because it was the last one, but because I felt what the national one means for so many people.
I say goodbye with gratitude. A thank you to all the coaches, the teammates, and the staff, and most of all, thank the national one, who gave me the greatest gifts: character, power, and a life full of basketball memories.
