Zdovc: “Everything is ideal in PAOK – Greece’s best team from Slovenia”

by

During open training, the Yuri Zdovc again highlighted how important he considers “creative pressure”, explaining how she can drive him PAOK in progress.

The Slovenian coach appeared optimistic about the course of preparation, finding positive elements in the intensity and disposal of the players to give the greatest, and also talked about the upcoming Eurobasket.

At the same time, he stood in challenging their adaptation to his own philosophy, as well as to the demands of last year. As he pointed out, the pressure does not worry him, on the contrary, he considers him an incentive, with the aim of hard work and competitiveness to accompany PAOK throughout the season.

In detail what he said:

“It has been 14 days since the start of the preparation, the team is new. There are many questions for me too. You think you know the players because you’ve seen them in scouting, but the reality in everyday life is something different. My thoughts are very positive. We have a very competitive team, we work hard.

Everything is great. The conditions are ideal. I say many times that the coach is not here to create problems, but to solve them. I have no complaints so far, but the season has not yet begun. I have experience and from the beginning of the season onwards, a lot can change. I will try hard to keep this from happening. ”

For his first conclusions in these two weeks: “The most positive is the energy of the players, which is really good. They are trying to give the maximum to workout. What we need to work on is that many players have their own automation beforehand. Either from the previous coach or by the way they think about basketball. It is difficult to change this, because I come with new ideas, new philosophy. But it is also a challenge for me to work on it. ”

PAOK has sold 4,500 lasting tickets, the stadium is renovated, the team last year has reached a European final. Can last season be with extra pressure? “So it must be! Through the pressure you can improve, players, coaches all. So it works if you want to go to the next level. ”

As for the possibility of acquiring a seventh stranger, he said: “Right now, not.”

Yuri Zdovc also answered a question about the upcoming Eurobasket, having won the gold medal himself as a player: “I’ve been a coach twice. For me Eurobasket is a big lottery. On a bad day, you can stay out. You can’t make many predictions, it has many good teams. Greece has a good and competitive team, better than Slovenia.

Slovenia has changed administration in the federation this year, has injuries and is really suffering. Luck is needed at Eurobasket. To be in a good day, to have good chemistry, an opponent can lose from another … The favorite for me is Serbia, dominated the friendly, has quality in the roster and experience. “
