Aegean Regatta 2025: Emotions and big wins in the finale of the sailing event

Aegean Regatta 2025, which started from Myrina, Limnos, continued in Agios Efstratios and Plomari, Lesvos, to reach the port of Mytilene.

The sailors had the opportunity to combine the racing side with the acquaintance of the culture and traditions of the islands-stations of the race, in an event that completed 24 years and literally broke hearts, as the winners in the three categories were judged in the last two races.

The “Aegean Regatta 2025”, a top sailing event of the summer, was organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy of the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy, in collaboration with the Open Sea Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation: Rhodes, LOIATH Mytilene, NO Samos, NO Chios, PEKEV Chios, with the coordinator for 2025 the Mytilene Sailing Club.

Aegean Regatta was also co -organized by the North Aegean Region, the Municipality of Lemnos, the Municipality of Agios Efstratios and the Municipality of Mytilene and was held with the support of the Coast Guard and the Greek Coast Guard.

This year’s event was completed with a wonderful closing ceremony at Sappho Square in Mytilene, flooded with love for the sea, sailing and the Aegean Sea.

All participants referred to the best words in the excellent organization of the race, the excellent hospitality of the islands and the unparalleled beauty of the Aegean.

The Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy, Emmanouil Koutoulakis, speaking to the closing ceremony, after conveying the greetings of Deputy Minister Stefanos Gika, thanked the sailors who have been hugging their “Aegean Regatta” all these years, Efstratiou and Mytilene for the cooperation and finally the islands for the unique mood of hospitality.

He also referred to the benefits of “Aegean Regatta”: the stimulation of the islands, the contact of sailors from different places and the opportunity given to crews to get to know island culture. Ended up saying:

“Next year, ‘Aegean Regatta’ will symbolically start from Volissos Chios, an area affected by the devastating fires.”

The Mayor of Mytilene, Panagiotis Christofas, congratulated all and everyone who participated in Aegean Regatta, not only as members of the crew, but also to the event, stressing that the Municipality of Mytilene will consistently support every action that highlights its place, tradition and traditions.

Finally, the chairman of the EIO Open Sea Committee, Konstantinos Kalogeropoulos, thanked the crews for the participation and renewed the appointment for the following year.

After the awards, there was a musical event with the band Efapax In Sappho Square, with a lot of fun, excitement and discussions about the sea and sailing. The sailors renewed the appointment for 2026 and a new journey to the beauties of the Aegean.
