Following the title of National Men, the Greek Table Tennis saw George Stamatouros on Sunday to win the second place in the simple and even their Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos/Gerasimos Hadjilleri and Tassos Riniotis/Giorgos Stamatos All of them were strong in the finale and clearly could reach even higher.
There were four blue -white medals and last year in Sarajevo (with two gold in simple). The fourth place of National Women, as well as many places in the quarter -finals, were also recorded, with our internationals showing this year’s racing quality. At the same time, they send a encouraging message at the beginning of the season ahead of the European team championship next month in Croatia.
EFEPE has prepared a reception on the arrival of the mission.
Stamatouros, a great Greek protagonist, with three medals at this year’s Balkan Championships, qualified Sunday morning in the final men’s final without having to play in the semifinals. The reason is that Romanian Matthew Doumrescu had injured from the quarter -finals with Tassos Riniotis.
The final was the “host” Ibrahim Guduz. Our champion had also faced him on Thursday in the winning final of the team and had lost marginally 3-2. In a new “closed” match, he gave it all to reach the victory and the top. He had the right psychology, he did not lag behind in performance, just at the most critical points (and basically in the fourth set) the left-handed opponent had the last ball and the defeat with a 4-2 set came (9-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-13, 11-7, 8-11).
In the double men, Greek couples were “chased” on the morning of the same day in the dubious semifinals to enter the final, but they suffered the defeat. Chronicles, first the match of Constantinopoulos/Hadjilleriii with the Bulgarian Stefan Dmitrov/Joan Velitskov. He arrived in the fifth set and there was athletes in the neighboring country, taking advantage of a quick and meaningful lead.
Rhiniotis and Stamatouros were confronted with two other very remarkable athletes, the Romanian Darius Thomas/Andrei Istrate. They didn’t have the best performance, the opponents got more attacks and prevailed 3-1.
In the ordinary women’s successor to Tolio, Aeta Massuti, who has fought in Sarisses Florina, became Aeta Massuti. In the final, Serb defeated Romana Bianca Mai-Rosu. Elena Zacharias, also Romanian, who we have admired with the AEK jersey, took the bronze medal with Turkala Esee Harak.
Romanians Andrei Istrate and Darius Thomas were named in the double men’s double champions. The first one went up to the third step of the podium in the simple one with Doumirscu’s compatriot.
The gold medal was won by the Turks Ozgé Yilmaz/Esee Harak.
The 2025 Balkan Mixed Balkans are also Turkish Ugurzan Durzun/Simai Koulakcen.
The Balkan Union of the sport posted a long delay on Sunday morning all the results of Saturday’s matches.
In the simple men, Stamatouros excluded the first round of Italian Thomas Sanki with a 4-3 set (15-13, 9-11, 11-13, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9). Constantinopoulos from the dashboard base lost the first set of Italian Giacomo Alegranza, but dominated the next 4-1 (4-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7, 11-1). Our champions met in the next round and Stamatouros was the winner with a 4-1 set (11-5, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9).
Hadjlygeroudis achieved another remarkable victory in the 16th, this time against Bulgarian Vladimir Petkov (who also knows Greek fans from his last year’s matches with Iphitos Patras) with the wide 4-0 set (13-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7). In the quarter -finals, he had a two -way match with his first dashboard favorite, Romanian Andrei Istrate. He scored great, led 2-0 and eventually bent in seven sets (11-3, 11-9, 10-12, 7-11, 10-12, 11-9, 5-11).
Rhiniotis maintained the good pace and chased a medal in simple. In the “16”, he excluded Turkish Tugai Yilmaz 4-0 in the team’s final (11-8, 11-6, 11-7, 11-5). In the “8”, he was eliminated 4-0 by Romanian Matthew Doumrescu. In the fourth set our champion had a reaction to his nerves, kicked and threw a referee next to the referee, so he was punished for the rest of the match and losing 4-0. Dumiterscu was injured in this match and did not fight on Sunday in simple.
Madessi left a new good impression on his first appearance in a Balkan Championship of the big division. He excluded the Serbian man with a 4-2 set (11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8) and later put them straight with the third favorite, Turkish Ibrahim Guduz. It was ahead of a 2-1 set and 7-3 in the points, until it suffered a 4-2 set (11-5, 11-9, 6-11, 10-12, 6-11, 6-11).
In the simple women, Toliu, last year’s “Golden Balkan, was eliminated with a 4-1 set by Serbian Tijiana Djokic, who was very efficient with the defense and well” read “(12-14, 5-11, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11).
Gerasimatou clashed with the excellent Esse Harak. He sought to push with the two lashes, took a lead and could increase it. Turkala found the solutions at the most critical points and raised its performance for the 4-1 set (15-13, 9-11, 9-11, 4-11, 5-11).
The men’s double had a “16” board. Mr. Constantinopoulos/Hadjlygeroudis were imposed in the first round of the Italian Thomas Sanki/Konstantinos Kapoukio with a 3-0 set (11-6, 11-8, 11-7). Then they won the Turks Yigenler/Guduz without a fight.
Rhiniotis with Stamatouros, after excluding the Romanians Mattei Doumrescu/Luca Matkovic in the first round, defeated the Serbs Tepic in the octave and a 3-1 set (11-2, 11-8, 10-12, 11-2).
In the women’s double, Toliou/Gerasimatou excluded the Albanian Samanta Angoli/Emireta Isufi in the first round with a 3-0 set (11-6, 11-7, 11-2). In the octave they clashed with the Serbs Tiyana Djokic/Aeta Massuti. They lost the first set of 10-7 in front and also marginally the second. They reduced the score, but in the end they bent over 3-1 by athletes who and with defense know how to play (the style of Tolio) and with the different “teeth” of Gerasimatos (11-13, 10-12, 11-5, 7-11).
Elizabeth Terpou with Evangelia Merambelliotakis were highly competitive. Opposite to another Serbian couple, the Dragana Vignjevic/Reka Bezeg, lost 3-1, with the first two sets being lost on the limit (9-11, 9-11, 13-11, 1-11).
