Mike Brown will have two significant absences in the season opener as the New York Knicks will be without Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson for Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hart injured his lower back when he slipped on the court during the first preseason friendly against the Philadelphia Sixers, and according to the Knicks’ medical release, he is suffering from lumbar spasms. The New York swingman was ruled unfit and dropped from the premiership.
Accordingly, Mitchell Robinson will remain out to manage a left ankle injury. The Knicks center had surgery before last season and despite returning, played in just 17 games before replacing Hart in the starting lineup during the Eastern Conference Finals.
Coach Mike Brown has yet to reveal who will start against the Cavaliers. In the first friendly of the pre-season he had chosen Robinson in the starting five and Hart coming from the bench, but now he is asked to readjust his plans.
On the Cleveland Cavaliers side, Darius Garland and Max Struss will also be out due to injuries. Garland is recovering from surgery on his left big toe, while Struss is dealing with a foot injury.
