Blatt “killed” Real from 10 meters and gave a great victory to Maccabi

With an improbable three-pointer Tamir Blatt from 10 meters with 4.3” remaining, h Maccabi prevailed 92-91 her Real in Belgrade celebrating her second victory. Lonnie Walker with 27, Roman Sorkin with 21 and O’Shay Brissett with 18 points stood out for the people’s team, which was +6 with two minutes left and almost killed itself like with Olympiakos. Leading but also fatal for Real, Mario Hezonia (24 points), did not prevent his team’s third defeat.

Real dominated at the beginning of the match and with an unexpected protagonist in the attack Garuba who scored 10 points (!) led by +12 (18-30) at the beginning of the second period. Then Walker took action, with 14 points in four minutes (!) he single-handedly turned the match into 38-36, while he himself reached 23 points with two three-pointers in the last minute of the half and sent Maccabi to the locker room with +6, 57-48.

Oded Katas’ team with the excellent Brissett taking the baton reached the third quarter and +11, 76-65. Real woke up and with an 11-0 run tied the match at the beginning of the fourth period (76-76). Sorkin made back-to-back baskets to bring Maccabi up 88-82 with 2:41 left. The “queen” with long shots from Lyles and Campacho reduced to a point (88-87), while the American forward with two shots tied the game (89-89) with 1:05 left. Campacho with two foul shots out of phase gave Real the lead (89-91) with 25.7” remaining. Walker missed a three-pointer but Hezonia went outside trying to get the rebound and after the rebound Blatt made it 92-91 with a three-pointer from ten yards out at 4.3”. Hezonia missed with a board and Maccabi got the big win.
