Georgiadis for an incident

The incident with the 16-year-old girl was also mentioned by the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, in his statements on Thursday morning to Action 24, pointing out that the hospital informed the police about the incident, while stressing that it is not within the competence of EKAB to inform the authorities.

“The police were informed by the doctors of the “Evangelismos” hospital that it was found that the minor could not come back,” said Mr. Georgiadis, talking about everything that happened after the EKAB received a call that the 16-year-old girl had collapsed in the middle of the road in Gazi.

“This girl was taken immediately by the EMS. It took 7 minutes from the phone call to the arrival. The ambulance went immediately. He was received practically dead, he was apathetic with mydriasis, he was practically dead. The doctors fell on him at the Annunciation, following protocol. I checked in the evening myself the steps they took, everything was done as it should be done. And the intubation, and the medicinal substances to get the heart going and its resuscitation. They did everything humanly possible to bring back a girl who was essentially dead before she got to the hospital.

An attempt to contact and inform the police was made by the hospital. EKAB is not responsible for the information. The police were notified when the incident was received and it appeared that something was wrong. What happened from there on in terms of assessing the seriousness of the incident, I cannot know. The doctors saw that something strange had happened and in the meantime his parents were also informed. The police were not informed directly because at the time the girl was picked up, she was technically alive,” he explained.

According to the minister, toxicology tests will show what caused the girl’s death.

“If the bar actually served alcohol to the minor, it will face serious criminal penalties,” he continued.

“The police were informed when resuscitation efforts ended because the girl could not be revived, and so the body was sent for a forensic examination,” concluded Mr. Georgiadis.
