Apple has highlighted a small but important new feature that allows people to protect their iPhones from abusive partners.

This feature, called “security check”, allows users to quickly cancel all permissions granted to someone on their phone.

This may include location access or passwords for multiple personal accounts.

While granting access to these items often helps, Apple has clearly identified the dangers that can present themselves to someone in a dangerous home environment.

“A new privacy tool called Safety Checks can help users whose personal safety is at risk of domestic or intimate partner violence and quickly remove all access granted to others,” says Apple.

“This includes an emergency reset to help users easily access iCloud on all other devices, restore their privacy permissions, and limit sending messages to devices only.

“It also helps users understand and manage the users and the applications they have access to.

This feature will launch in the fall when Apple offers the next version of iOS to iPhone users for free.

Apple has announced several other software updates as part of its annual weekly WWDC event in California.

The tech giant shared details about a previously tested plan to escape entered password by announcing a new feature called Passkey. This replaces password entry with a fingerprint or face scan when signing in to your Apple device.
