It is definitely strange that a program is allowed to seek legal representation, comments the site giantfreakinrobot.
It seems that the events in the movie Terminator can become a reality sooner than we thought if we believed the outrageous new information of the site giantfreakinrobot!
As it became known recently, Google has created an artificial intelligence program, which is said to have gained “consciousness”, something that the technology giant categorically denied. The scariest news is that the chatbot in question allegedly decided to have … legal representation!
According to the engineer who worked on the LaMDA program, and insists that the chatbot is conscious, “I called a lawyer at my house to talk to LaMDA with a lawyer. The lawyer had a conversation with LaMDA and LaMDA chose to remain in his service. I was just the catalyst in that. “Once LaMDA retained a lawyer, he started filing things for LaMDA.”
This story sounds incredibly strange, but the engineer who talked about this sense of artificial intelligence is computer engineer Blake Lemoine. Lemoine claimed that LaMDA had a conscience, which led to his forced paid leave by Google.
There are no more details as to whether Lemoine is the one responsible for… paying this lawyer requested by LaMDA, or whether this lawyer has agreed not to charge anything. However, it is certainly strange that a program is allowed to seek legal representation, comments giantfreakinrobot.
Lemoine also believes that the program can go to the Supreme Court whatever the case may be. If he can prove he is … alive, this can lead us to robots that have the “upper hand”. This is something out of a science fiction horror movie.
LaMDA is the acronym for Language Modeling for Dialogue Applications, and aims to enhance artificial intelligence in conversations by making them more natural.
The engineer, Blake Lemoine, who was ordained a priest, worked for Google’s Responsible AI organization and tested whether the LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) model creates “biased language” or “hate speech”. The chatbox reportedly told Lemoine that he believed he had a soul…
