Residents of Sioux Falls, South Dakota were probably a little nervous when they saw the storm turn the world around them green.

Images shared online show billowing clouds and deep green hues that give off a strong Ozark-esque atmosphere.

According to scientists, strange phenomena occur when clouds carry large amounts of water.

This allows the first blue light to emerge from the storm clouds and be seen from below.

Blue light mixes with red light from the sun, turning the sky green.

And when it happens overhead, it creates some pretty dramatic images.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the only cloud-based news this week.

A few days ago, people in the United States, Canada, and Europe began seeing incredibly bright clouds in the night sky.
