Apple announced this Wednesday (7) the iPhone 14, a new line of smartphones from the company. Without major visual and computational transformations, the models can now send emergency messages via satellite, even in places without internet or cell phone signal, and detect car crashes.
The satellite communication service will be paid, but can be used for two years free of charge.
The lineup announced at the “Far Out” event covers the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The last two, the most expensive in the line, have better screens, materials and cameras. In addition, they feature a smaller, interactive “fringe” — the part of the screen that is covered by the front camera. They use the A16 Bionic chip, which Apple says is the “fastest available in a smartphone”.
In the US, the iPhone 14 will be available on September 16, while the Plus on October 7. This one has a larger screen and works with the same processor as the iPhone 13, the A15, launched last year.
The company also announced a new lineup of smartwatches, the Apple Watch Series 8, including one focused on athletes and extreme sports, the Apple Watch Ultra.
In addition to health data, the device features more geographic information, greater shock resistance, and better battery life. The line also received the SE version, cheaper and less powerful.
Apple’s wireless headset also received an update. AirPods Pro will feature better processing, sound quality and noise reduction.
