Apple introduced several new products in a virtual showcase, including the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
The Silicon Valley tech giant also topped off its new Apple Watch models in a pre-recorded video.
The company chose to launch its products this way after Covid-19 canceled in-person meetings.
Through a series of presentations from various executives, including CEO Tim Cook, Apple unveiled a series of new iPhone 14 models that can call emergency services via satellite.
The company said it has developed a system to coordinate with remote emergency operators in the event of an emergency.
It also says that in some situations, users can use the FindMy app to share their location via satellite when there is no other connection.
Unlike in previous years, Apple ditched the mini model in favor of a larger version of the iPhone 14 called the iPhone 14 Plus.
Both devices will come in five colors and will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 9.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature a new always-on display and a more powerful Apple A16 Bionic processor. The Pro and Pro Max offer standard 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes, but the usual bezels have been replaced with a circular notch for the front camera.
As usual, the main difference is the camera performance. Apple has updated the Pro model with a 48-megapixel main camera to improve low-light photography.
The iPhone 14 Pro comes in four colors: deep purple, gold, silver, and space black.
Like the standard iPhone 14, the Pro model will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 9.
Prices start at £849 for the iPhone 14 (128GB) and £949 for the iPhone 14 Plus (128GB).
Pro models start at £1,099 for the 128GB iPhone 14 Pro and £1,199 for the 128GB iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Ben Wood, Principal Analyst at CCS Insight, commented: It will likely take years for Apple to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, including a business deal with satellite provider Globalstar and building the infrastructure needed to relay messages to emergency services. .

The Series 8 starts at £419 and the SE from £249. The Ultra, which includes cellular in its base model, starts at £849 and goes on sale September 23.
According to Apple, the new Series 8 watches feature a temperature sensor that works with the previously released cycle tracking app to retroactively detect ovulation.
The company emphasized its privacy approach to cycle tracking. Privacy and reproductive health data have become a focus for tech companies following the US Supreme Court ruling that ended the US constitutional right to abortion.
Apple said it doesn’t have the keys to cracking health data like cycle tracking.
