WhatsApp launches option to recover messages deleted by mistake

WhatsApp now offers users the ability to undo the “Delete message for me” command, up to five seconds after the content has been deleted.

According to Will Cathcart, director of WhatsApp, the purpose of the feature is to help those who would like to delete the message for all participants in the conversation, but deleted it only for themselves.

The option to delete message for everyone remains active, and it is not possible to recover the content in the conversation after deleting it. It is possible to delete texts, videos, photos or any other type of content sent in a private or group conversation. In the case of groups, administrators can also delete messages sent by participants, in this case, without the possibility of undoing the command.

One of the complaints that WhatsApp had been receiving from its users was that, many times, the intention was to delete a message for everyone in the conversation, but when the option “Delete for me” was chosen, by accident, it was no longer possible to avoid it. other participants to see the content, which disappeared only for those who sent it.

The platform points out that after five seconds have passed, the command can no longer be undone, and the message will be permanently deleted and only for the user himself.
