Smartwatches have proven vital to modern lifestyles due to their durable, portable and easy-to-use nature, with more and more people using them while exercising and tracking their health and fitness.

Choosing a smartwatch is often a well-thought-out process, as consumers spend nearly a month searching for the ideal device.

In addition, consumers have a need to feel that they can rely on their smartwatch to be functional, easy to use, and not have to worry about wear and tear from everyday use, according to the recent major survey “Smartwatch Market Insight Report ”, conducted by Huawei in collaboration with research organizations Ipsos Poland, Pollster and GfK.

Basic purchase criteria

Based on Huawei’s findings, the key purchase criteria are lifespan, compatibility with other smart devices, and water resistance.

In fact, 67% of respondents cite water resistance as the most attractive feature along with battery life.

A smartwatch’s features also play an important role in the purchase decision, with nine out of ten citing health tracking as the top feature of a smartwatch.
