“The contribution of artificial intelligence and augmented reality to national and European security.” This is what the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Christos Dimas, notes in a post on twitter and facebook, regarding the Darlene program, which concerns the development of special augmented reality glasses for the police utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. The goal, he says, is to increase the effectiveness of security forces in preventing and neutralizing terrorist or criminal acts.
In his Facebook post, the Undersecretary states: “With the aim of developing a system based on new technologies and allowing police officers to be better aware of the situation during a police operation, it began with the coordination of CERTH – National Research Center and Technological Development, the DARLENE research project.
The program develops special Augmented Reality glasses for the police utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. This combination is expected to significantly enhance the effectiveness of the security forces in preventing and neutralizing terrorist acts or criminal activities.
